Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences model and the revised Bloom’s Taxonomy are the two most significant innovations in educational planning to have emerged in the last fifteen years. Their popularity with teachers is a testament to how they are the most effective and practical classroom tools available. Both provide clear and practical directions not only for engaging students in many diverse ways, but also for diversifying the curriculum, diversifying teaching strategies and diversifying assessment.
The authors were the original creators of an easy-to-use planning matrix which integrated the Multiple intelligences model and Bloom’s model to produce a variety of classified activities and sentence stems for planning any unit of work. The matrix enabled teachers to develop many diverse, engaging and challenging tasks that catered for all students in the same classroom. This original matrix, the first of its kind in the world, was published and applied in the Seven Ways at Once series of books. Since then, the matrix has been utilised by thousands of teachers and adapted by other authors and educational consultants
The Seven Ways at Once books have been best sellers since 1995 . However recent major revisions to both MI and Bloom have necessitated a complete revision of the books. Two new revised books titled Eight Ways At Once have now been produced by the authors. They provide important research updates and new practical guidelines on how the two revised and updated models can be translated into effective classroom practice.
In Book 2, all of the core teaching strategies from Book 1 are applied to units of work, creating hundreds of engaging and challenging classroom activities, games, performances and projects. These units of work can be readily adapted to different key learning areas for different year levels from K to 12
The units of work are animals, lierature, space and flight, health and wellbeing, and planet earth. See sample page 59 book 2 from literature unit and sample page 213 book 2 from planet earth unit.
The new Eight Ways at Once series of books are now available.
All books are suitable for primary and secondary classrooms.
